I. WHAT IS ISCHEMIC DISEASE?
Ischemic stroke (cerebral infarction) is a condition where cerebral blood vessels are blocked by a blood clot or atherosclerosis, interrupting the blood flow to the brain. Without prompt emergency treatment, the patient may suffer paralysis, speech disorders, or death.
II. WARNING SIGNS – REMEMBER “FAST”
F (Face): Crooked mouth, facial asymmetry.
A (Arm): Weakness or paralysis of one arm or leg on one side.
S (Speech): Difficulty speaking, slurred speech.
T (Time): Call emergency services IMMEDIATELY.
⛔ When the above signs appear, the patient should be taken to the hospital as soon as possible for timely intervention.
III. DIET AND PREVENTION OF RECURRENCE
1. Diet
- Eat a bland diet, reduce salt and saturated fats.
- Prioritize green vegetables, fish, vegetable oils, and low-sugar fruits.
- Limit fried foods, animal intestines, and fast food.
- Limit alcohol and quit smoking.
2. Healthy lifestyle
- Regularly monitor blood pressure, blood sugar, and blood lipids.
- Maintain a healthy weight.
- Exercise regularly: walking, yoga, Tai Chi.
- Take medication as prescribed; do not stop taking it without consulting a doctor.
