✅ WHAT IS AN ECTOPIC PREGNANCY?
An ectopic pregnancy occurs when the embryo implants outside the uterine cavity. This is a gynecologic emergency that can cause internal abdominal bleeding and may be life-threatening if not treated promptly.
⚠️ RISK FACTORS
- Pelvic or genital infections
- Previous ectopic pregnancy
- History of fallopian tube surgery or assisted reproductive techniques
🚨 WARNING SIGNS
- Missed period accompanied by abdominal pain and vaginal bleeding
- Dizziness, cold sweats, low blood pressure (signs of rupture)
🏥 MANAGEMENT
- Medical treatment when diagnosed early
- Surgical intervention if the ectopic mass has ruptured or medical treatment fails
