✅ WHAT IS ACUTE LARYNGITIS?

It is inflammation of the larynx caused by viruses or bacteria. The condition can cause breathing difficulty and may be life-threatening.

⚠ RISK FACTORS

  • Common cold
  • Inflammation of the nose, throat, or lungs
  • Allergies, gastroesophageal reflux
  • Dust and cigarette smoke

🚨 DANGER SIGNS

  • Heavy cough
  • Hoarse voice or loss of voice
  • Stridor (noisy breathing), shortness of breath
  • Fever

👉 TAKE THE CHILD TO THE EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT IMMEDIATELY if breathing difficulty worsens, stridor occurs even at rest, or there are signs of cyanosis (bluish lips/skin).

🏠 HOME CARE

  • Keep the child calm and well rested
  • Drink plenty of warm water
  • Limit shouting
  • Closely monitor breathing

  • Keep the throat warm
  • Avoid dust and smoke
  • Strengthen the immune system
