Dream High 2026 to resume charitable surgery program for upper limb deformities

The "Dream High" charitable surgery program will return to Hong Ngoc General Hospital in March 2026, in collaboration with specialists from the U.S.-based organization Nuoy, to provide corrective surgery for patients with upper limb deformities.

Congenital deformities are not only physical or functional impairments but also psychological barriers that affect patients’ quality of life. For many families in disadvantaged circumstances, access to corrective surgery remains out of reach due to high costs and the technical complexity of such procedures.

The “Dream High” charitable surgery program was established more than a decade ago and has since helped restore both function and appearance for thousands of patients with craniofacial and limb deformities across the country. The program is an annual humanitarian initiative, systematically organized by Hong Ngoc General Hospital in collaboration with Nuoy Reconstructive International, an international nonprofit organization specializing in charitable reconstructive surgery for disadvantaged patients in multiple countries.

In 2026, the program will take place at Hong Ngoc General Hospital from March 15 to 27, offering reconstructive surgery for patients with limb deformities, with a focus on restoring function and physical form.

Most cases treated under the program involve upper limb deformities, including joint contractures; extra, fused, or missing fingers; post-burn sequelae; soft tissue defects; sequelae following cancer surgery; and benign or malignant soft tissue tumors.

The application period for free corrective surgery runs from Jan. 26 to Feb. 28, 2026. To date, more than 100 applications have been received. Patients from disadvantaged backgrounds nationwide will be offered free medical examinations, specialist consultations, and treatment assessments. Eligible cases will be fully exempt from surgical procedure costs.

The program is led by Dr. Le Quang Huy, MD, PhD, Head of the Orthopedic Trauma and Neurosurgery Department at Hong Ngoc Phuc Truong Minh General Hospital. A senior surgeon with extensive experience in orthopedic and reconstructive surgery, Dr. Huy has received advanced training in Europe.

Representing Nuoy Reconstructive International, Assistant Professor Mark Greyson, MD, FACS, Director of the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Colorado, United States, will participate as a clinical advisor. Collaboration between domestic physicians and international experts supports standardized surgical indications, optimized operative techniques, and improved treatment outcomes.
