“Dream High 2026”: Continuing the journey of arm restoration

01-04-2026

Held from March 15 to March 27, the charitable surgical program “Dream High 2026” concluded successfully, continuing a journey of more than a decade in bringing reconstructive medicine closer to underserved patients. Beyond providing access to treatment, the program offers renewed hope for a better future for individuals affected by severe upper limb impairments.

“Dream High 2026” concludes - new beginnings for renewed lives

The charitable surgical program “Dream High 2026,” organized by Hong Ngoc General Hospital in collaboration with Nuoy Reconstructive International, was successfully conducted, marking a meaningful humanitarian initiative characterized by both clinical excellence and compassionate care.

Within the program framework, the medical team conducted screening and evaluation for more than 100 patients with upper limb deformities from various provinces across the country. Following comprehensive multidisciplinary assessment, six eligible cases were selected for surgical intervention.

Sharing about the program, Dr. Le Quang Huy, MD, PhD - Head of the Orthopedic Trauma and Neurosurgery Department at Hong Ngoc Phuc Truong Minh General Hospital stated: “Dream High is not merely a charitable screening and surgical program; it also serves as a bridge enabling underprivileged patients to access advanced surgical techniques within a modern healthcare setting.

For us, the success of a surgical procedure is not only measured by functional recovery or anatomical improvement, but more importantly by psychological healing. When patients regain confidence in their bodies, they are empowered to communicate, pursue education, and follow their aspirations.

Through collaboration with international experts, our medical team continues to enhance its expertise in orthopedic and reconstructive surgery, thereby expanding treatment opportunities for more patients in the years ahead.”

Restoring impaired arms, continuing unfinished dreams

Among the treated patients, two remarkable cases stood out, reflecting their resilience in overcoming self-consciousness and their aspiration for a more fulfilling life.

Born with congenital hand deformities, pediatric patient Le Nguyen Nhat Linh (6 years old, Ninh Binh) was unable to extend her fingers. After being introduced to the “Dream High” program, she successfully underwent right hand contracture release surgery in 2024.

Continuing her treatment journey, Linh underwent contracture release surgery of the left hand during this year’s program. The procedure was successfully performed, improving finger extension and gradually restoring both functional mobility and hand aesthetics, thereby enabling her to carry out daily activities and develop more normally alongside her peers.

Another notable case is Vu Thi Hoa (23 years old, Hanoi), who was born with a congenital elbow dislocation, resulting in limited forearm pronation and supination and significantly affecting her daily activities. Living with this deformity since childhood, Hoa experienced persistent self-consciousness and faced numerous challenges in both life and work. Although she had long hoped to undergo corrective surgery to change her future, financial constraints repeatedly delayed her plans. Her opportunity finally came when she learned about the “Dream High” program through social media and was fortunate to receive free surgical treatment at Hong Ngoc General Hospital.

Following corrective surgery of the left elbow joint, Hoa’s upper limb function has shown progressive improvement. She is currently undergoing active rehabilitation to restore mobility, regain confidence, and stabilize her daily life.

The “Dream High 2026” program has concluded, but its humanitarian mission continues. With plans for annual implementation, the initiative will continue to provide treatment opportunities for underprivileged patients, enabling access to modern healthcare, restoring function, improving aesthetics, and opening pathways to a brighter future.
