On January 12, 2023, the Laboratory Department of Hong Ngoc Phuc Truong Minh General Hospital was honored to receive the ISO 15189:2012 accreditation certificate from the AOSC Office. The certificate presentation ceremony was held at the hospital auditorium.
What is ISO 15189:2012?
ISO 15189:2012 is an international standard that specifies the quality and competence requirements for medical laboratories. The standard is developed based on the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO 9001, while incorporating additional quality assurance requirements specific to medical laboratory practice.
It includes 15 management requirements and 8 technical requirements related to quality assurance in laboratory operations, including staff competency and professional qualifications, environmental condition control, laboratory equipment management, pre analytical procedures, and quality control throughout the testing process.
The implementation of ISO 15189:2012 helps to:
- Improve the accuracy and reliability of laboratory test results in medical diagnosis and treatment at hospitals and healthcare facilities;
- Enhance quality management capacity within medical laboratories;
- Facilitate the recognition and utilization of laboratory results among hospitals and healthcare institutions;
- Provide a reliable foundation for health assessment, forensic medicine, and related activities;
- Serve as a basis for participation in international mutual recognition programs with other laboratories worldwide, while also supporting the continuous professional development of physicians, laboratory specialists, and technical staff.
The Laboratory Department of Hong Ngoc Phuc Truong Minh General Hospital Meets ISO 15189:2012 Standards
After a long period of continuous improvement and service quality enhancement, the Laboratory Department of Hong Ngoc Phuc Truong Minh General Hospital was honored to receive ISO 15189:2012 accreditation from the AOSC Office in recognition of its achievements.
At the accreditation ceremony, representatives from Hong Ngoc General Hospital included Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Vinh, Chairman of the Members’ Council; Assoc. Prof. Le Van Thach, MD, PhD, Hospital Director; and Specialist Level II Physician Bui Van Vinh, Head of the Laboratory and Pathology Department.
Representing the AOSC Office were Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Thi Khanh Tram, PhD, Director of the AOSC Office; Mr. Nguyen Tien Duc, Head of Customer Service; and Ms. Do Khanh Linh, Customer Service Specialist at the AOSC Office.
Following the opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Thi Khanh Tram, PhD, delivered a speech and presented the accreditation certificate to the hospital representatives. According to Dr. Tram: “This accreditation recognizes the dedication and continuous efforts of the Laboratory Department at Hong Ngoc Hospital. From 2021 until now, the hospital has achieved this certification within just over one year, demonstrating remarkable progress. I am personally proud to accompany an institution that strictly complies with regulations and consistently prioritizes patient satisfaction in line with the hospital’s philosophy. This achievement reflects not only the efforts of the Laboratory Department, but also the strong collaboration across the entire hospital system, together with significant investment in modern laboratory equipment. Congratulations to the hospital, and I hope these ongoing efforts will continue to further strengthen its laboratory services for the benefit of patients.”
In response, Assoc. Prof. Le Van Thach, MD, PhD, Hospital Director, shared: “After more than a year of continuous effort and dedication, the hospital’s Laboratory Department has successfully achieved this accreditation. This serves as an important milestone affirming the credibility and quality of the entire Hong Ngoc laboratory system. We remain committed to further improving our services in order to deliver the highest level of accuracy and reliability in diagnosis and treatment for patients.”
Also attending the ceremony were representatives from Roche Vietnam Co., Ltd. and Abbott Vietnam, who presented congratulatory flowers to representatives of Hong Ngoc Phuc Truong Minh General Hospital.
