Behind the spectacular staging and the excitement of thousands of concertgoers lies a carefully coordinated operational plan in which medical support plays a vital role. Large-scale concerts often bring together thousands of people in densely crowded venues for several hours. Prolonged standing, continuous movement and energetic cheering amid high sound levels, combined with weather conditions and crowd density, can increase the risk of dehydration, exhaustion, injury and unexpected medical emergencies.

These conditions place considerable demands on event medical services. In addition to doctors and nurses with strong clinical expertise and practical emergency-response experience, appropriate medical coverage must be planned for each area of the venue to ensure rapid access to anyone requiring assistance.

Coordination among medical stations, mobile emergency teams, ambulances and the receiving hospital must also be carefully organised, enabling a timely response to both minor medical concerns and serious emergencies.

Building on the experience and clinical expertise gained from supporting numerous major events, Hong Ngoc General Hospital served as the official medical partner for BIGBANG’s two concerts in Hanoi in 2026. The hospital implemented a comprehensive medical support plan, including the deployment of doctors and nurses, the positioning of medical teams at key locations, and the preparation of essential equipment, emergency response protocols and hospital transfer procedures. Close coordination between the on-site medical teams and the Emergency Department at Hong Ngoc Phuc Truong Minh General Hospital helped ensure that any medical incidents could be assessed and managed promptly, meeting the health and safety requirements of an international-scale music event.

Multi-layered medical support plan for BIGBANG’s two concerts

Drawing on its experience in providing medical coverage for large-scale events, Hong Ngoc General Hospital developed a detailed on-site medical response plan for BIGBANG’s two concerts at My Dinh National Stadium. The plan took into account the characteristics of each area, the timing of audience arrivals and potential health risks, with coordinated preparations involving medical personnel, equipment, emergency vehicles and incident-response procedures.

Under the plan, Hong Ngoc mobilised doctors, nurses and coordinators from across its hospital network, with specific assignments for each location and time slot. Ten medical stations were positioned in key areas, including two outside the stadium, four within the stadium grounds and four across Stands A and B. This strategic deployment helped shorten response times while ensuring access to medical assistance in the most densely populated areas.

The medical coverage plan was designed to remain flexible throughout the event. Medical teams began their duties at 09:00 on both 24 and 25 October 2026, ready to assist concertgoers during check-in and while they waited to enter the stadium. From 14:00, medical stations within the stadium and across the stands became operational and remained in place until the concerts ended. From 18:30, additional mobile medical teams were deployed to work alongside the four stations inside the stadium, strengthening the capacity to reach, assist and promptly manage any incidents.

Alongside staffing arrangements, medicines, medical supplies and emergency equipment were prepared according to the function of each station. In addition to vital-sign monitoring equipment, including blood pressure monitors and pulse oximeters, as well as oxygen cylinders, emergency stations were equipped with defibrillators, bag-valve masks and endotracheal intubation kits for managing critical situations. Two-way radios were also provided to support effective coordination among the medical teams.

For cases requiring a higher level of care, Hong Ngoc established a tiered patient reception and hospital transfer protocol. The Master Medical Station (Medical Tent 7), located between Gates 2 and 3, served as the designated receiving point for patients with serious medical conditions. Ambulances remained on standby at the stadium throughout the event, ready to provide emergency transport when required. Meanwhile, the Emergency Department at Hong Ngoc Phuc Truong Minh General Hospital maintained a dedicated team prepared to receive patients transferred from the venue.

From risk assessment and time-based staff deployment to the preparation of emergency equipment and hospital transfer arrangements, every stage was carefully planned to support a rapid response and effective coordination in the event of a medical incident. This comprehensive preparation reflected the hospital’s capacity to provide professional medical coverage for major events while helping safeguard the health of thousands of concertgoers throughout both nights.

Hong Ngoc reinforces its commitment to community health

Serving as the official medical partner for BIGBANG’s concerts demonstrated not only Hong Ngoc General Hospital’s clinical expertise and event medical management experience but also its commitment to community wellbeing.

By proactively mobilising resources, developing comprehensive medical response plans and providing on-site support at large-scale events, Hong Ngoc continues to extend healthcare beyond the hospital setting.
